8. Children

Extend principles of integrated care to children under 13 years of age

Brief Description

  1. Develop and implement a clinical tool to support integrated care in children under 13.
  2. Start with clinical data for 150 children in MHIP and code the spectrum of problems identified by care managers.
  3. Review experience with Hogg-Foundation funded integrated care program for ADHD.
  4. Review literature on child rating scales.
  5. Select and/or develop scales for use to track outcomes.
  6. Pilot testing and PCP feedback.
  7. Validate with other child outcomes.
  8. Linkage to WA State Medicaid data.

Opportunity (Why Now?)

  1. Underserved population
  2. Lack of knowledge about measurement-based care for kids
  3. Lack of standardization of outcomes measurement (critical for PCMH)
  4. Populations available for study
  5. Care coordination already in place in some areas (e.g., MHIP program)
  6. Quantitative/clinical data available
  7. Case study for complexity (multiple systems)
