4. Peer Network

Develop and support peer mentoring for successful behavioral health integration programs

Brief Description

  1. Create a web-based tool, using a social networking model, to facilitate connections between organizations that have successfully implemented integrated behavioral health programs and those considering or in the process of implementing.
    1. Develop a ‘matching process’
  2. Develop methods for identifying and vetting mentor organizations and mentors.
  3. Clearly specify parameters of mentorship.
  4. Create a web-based tool, using social networking techniques, to:
    1. create and host an easy-to search inventory of successful program implementers in different settings / populations.
    2. facilitate connections between organizations that have successfully implemented integrated behavioral health programs and those considering or in the process of implementing.

Opportunity (Why Now?)

  1. Need to support implementation of evidence-based behavioral health care in the context of medical home development
  2. Lack of organized resources to support implementation
  3. Peers with relevant expertise and success in key aspects of implementing effective programs are a timely and relatively low cost resource.
  4. Peers can help adopters with implementation and sustainability.
  5. Promotion of networking and partnership
  6. Cost savings by reducing redundancy and avoiding mistakes
